Alan Turover
Co-Founder & Principal, Chief Technology Officer


Alan Turover is a creative senior executive with an outstanding record of over 25 years of accomplishments in the Food & Beverage Industries. Skilled in all phases of domestic and international strategic technology management, Alan has placed special emphasis on product development, productivity improvement, technology integration and management, venture development and quality management.

As Vice President, Product Development, for the Venture group at Kraft and then for the Frozen Foods and Dairy Divisions at Kraft General Foods, Alan was responsible for strategic planning and execution of technology and product development programs. Brand and individual company responsibilities included Lender's Bagel Bakery, Tombstone Pizza Co., the All American Gourmet Co., The Kraft Dairy Division, General Foods Novelties and Desserts and Birdseye Frozen Foods. Alan was also responsible for the new ventures and microwave programs. During Alan's tenure at KGF, he improved productivity so that the R&D budget was entirely recoverable through reduced operating costs.

As Vice President, Research and Development with Castle & Cooke, Inc., Alan was responsible for Domestic and International Consumer, Institutional and Industrial products under the Dole, Bumble Bee Seafoods, Budd of California Fresh Product and Figaro Pet Food Labels. Under his direction, the Product Development and Commercialization Program at Castle & Cooke added over $400MM/year of new consumer driven, value-added products. These included such award winning products as: Dole Fruit 'n Juice Bars, Dole Fruit Sorbet, Dole Whip Non-

Dairy Food Service Product, Dole Breakfast Juice Beverages and Dole Peeled Fresh Pineapple. In the area of Technology Support to Operations, Alan's group provided cost reduction or profit improvement of $4MM to $15MM/year to operating divisions in the form of formulation, processing, packaging, quality and line extension improvements. Alan identified and commercialized new technologies that contributed $25MM to $100MM in new revenues to Castle & Cooke. As head of the International Development Area, Alan led the introduction of innovative products that were tailored to the needs of countries in the Caribbean, Europe and the Far East.

At the Nestlé Co., Alan developed and improved the consumer acceptability and profitability of powdered beverages and confectionary products, while creating a model new products testing program that became the standard for all of Nestlé's New Products Groups.

Alan also holds patents and patent disclosures in the areas of rapid drying techniques utilizing microwave ovens, potato processing and mushroom processing in several countries.

In 1993, Alan merged his technical experience with the marketing expertise of Tim Straus to form The Turover Straus Group, Inc.
